The Epic editor was designed by Larry Seahorn at TV Associates, Mountain View, California. Epic was marketed nationally by Harris Corporation.

This multi-machine editor used a Data General Nova Computer. The Epic included a full complement of VTR and switcher control functions; master slave; sync-roll; auto-assembly with look ahead. List manipulation functions included inserting, deleting and moving events (with time code ripple if desired).

The EDL could be saved on floppy disk (up to 2000 events) or exported to a CMX compatible punched paper tape EDL.

VTR interfacing was via a unique card for each VTR type. Each VTR interface included a time code reader.
