The ISC editor combined the proven Super Edit software, with a desktop computer, giving the user a compact, flexible, and very cost effective editing system.
Founded by Dave Bargen, the architect of ISC systems. ISC made its
debut in the industry introducing editors which were capable of controlling
some of the most advanced "Type-C" and "U-Matic" VTRs of the day utilizing
RS-422 control protocol. Ampex had recently introduced the VPR-80 and
VPR-3 series machines which utilized DC-Servo controlled motors which
produced incredibly fast cue times but had extremely rapid acceleration
ballistics, and extremely accurate slo-motion that had not been previously
available. Working very closely on development with Charlie Pantuso, who
at the time was in charge of the ABC Olympics broadcast centers, ISC and
Ampex equipment was used extensively at the Sarajevo and Los Angeles games.
